I have a 97 Airstream 25' Ex cello. The air conditioner went out, Dometic cannot provide the Duo-Therm for about 5 to 6 weeks because of a fire in plant, I would like to replace this unit with a15000 BTU low profile with heat pump. Which should I get a Coleman or Carrier. I need to go Camping. Tanks for your reply.

Hey, we just did this very thing this week.
After lots of research, we found the Carrier to be a superior product. The only thing is they do not make a Low Profile Heat Pump non-ducted, you can get a ducted unit in the Low Profile Heat Pump. We needed the Non-Ducted Unit for our 1982 34ft Limited, so we went with the Carrier Low Profile 15000 A/C with the Heat Strip.
There is a Carrier Standard Profile 15000 Heat Pump but it does'nt have the drainage tube needed for the Airstream.
Yes this is what came in initially when we ordered the heat pump. Of course it had to go back, no drain system.
We are very happy with the Carrier 15000 and heat strip.
Best of luck to you.
Oh, our local Airstream Dealer is having so many problems with Domectics even on the new streamers they are selling. Just a note on quality.Posted 08-21-2009 at 05:36 PM by 82 34Limited
