Tire Cover Idea

Posted 07-05-2022 at 02:07 PM by drjudy

[QUOTE=drjudy;2611253]My 1985 AS Sovereign has the same channel above the wheel well; turns out this is awning track that AS applied over the wheel well.

A strip of PU cord with a tail or flange formed on-length or “Kurdie” which is polyester fabric wrapped around a PU core is used to draw into the channel. Fabric is sewn into the strip of the flange.I am thinking one more step: sew Velcro to the flange then the wool side of Velcro to the UV resistant fabric.

I checked with tacomarine; they sell PU insert only in 20’ lengths. SAILRITE.com has YouTube videos. They sell “Kurdie” or PU sew-in insert in several pre-cut lengths. They ALSO sell the aluminum or PU track. I also called VTS and they recently (2022) began selling kurdie insert.

I’m really liking SAILRITE for their very helpful home town You Tube videos. They re-did an Argosy square stream and have posted many helpful DIY videos. I’ve upholstered my AS bedroom walls using their snap systems. Planning to use their PU curtain rail and snap carriers for my panoramic windows.
