Pt 2
July 26, 2019
Browsing Facebook marketplace I came across an airstream that looked familiar. Looking that the photos posted on the listing a unique sticker in the rear window jogged my memory of where I saw the trailer before. This trailer was listed at the local Airstream dealer for sale but i was thrown off by the price. On the dealers website it was listed for $15,000 but facebook was $7,500. As you can probably guess this threw flags up all over the place. On a whim I messaged the person listing it and asked if the price was legit and where i could see the trailer and was told at the dealer.
On a sunday July 29th (chose that day so i wouldnt have to deal with salesmen) my wife and I took a trip up to see it (40 minutes from home). A quick walk around the trailer and we really liked what we saw. a few small dings and a small bent belly pan section didnt scare me about the outside and the interior looked like it was in the process of disassembly. Perfect for us as we planned on doing a completely new interior/floorplan. We went home to talk it out and came to the decision that we wanted to make an offer.
July 30th before I got around to calling about the trailer the listing was changed to sold. talk about disappointment. Well knowing the lister worked at the dealer I asked if they could keep me in the loop if any other similar trailers came in for sale at their place. An hour later i got a response that the trailer was still for sale. It was changed to sold because of alot of rif-raf asking about it.
Aug 1 we went back up to look at it on their late night so we could talk to the sales staff. we arrived about an hour before closing and there was 2 employees there. After a quick once over on the trailer we entered the show room and were greeted by one of the people there. I asked about the trailer and said i saw it on facebook for $7,500 and he asked who listed it. When I told him the name he said oh that is our General Manager but he was not there and he was only a parts guy so he couldnt speak pricing for the unit. I left him with my name and number and was told they would call me.
