More purchases and repairs for Scatter Bug
It always seems to happen this way: Repair something and you find other issues that need to be addressed: Leon replaced one of the shocks on Scatter Bug (will be doing the second one today) and while he was at it took the time to inspect the under-belly. He discovered that most, if not all of the belly pan is loose, meaning it has separated from it's rivets. So today after the second shock is installed Leon and my father will re-rivet the belly pan and inspect the axle. I'm hoping we will not have to replace the axle but if we must it will be a mad scramble to get the work done before we leave on the "Maritime Holiday" Caravan to PEI. Leon checked the tires too, they are Goodyear Marathons that were manufactured in 2004. These will be replaced with new Marathons this week or next. Even though they are under 6 years old I'm not willing to take a chance on them. Lucky for us we only need three (we will be replacing the spare too, as it's not the same type or size as the others). Last thing he found during his inspection was a badly done patch to the under-belly next to the water heater. At some point in her life Scatter Bug's water heater caught on fire and damage was done. Whoever patched her did a crappy job so we will need to redo it to our liking. This repair will happen post camping season.
Update: Good news! Axle is fine.
Pictures show newly installed shock, badly patched under-belly and the soon to be installed stabilizers.
