bad workmanship, wet flooring, no customer support

A couple years ago I posted pictures of my rotted out floor in my new Bambi.

https://www.airforums.com/forums/f48/...ml#post1082517

After a lot of back and forth with Airstream they agreed to repair the damaged part of the floor. They repaired it with material that they now use instead of particle board (good idea) but it was 1/4 inch thicker so there was a rise in the floor where they had replace the rotted out section. They said if I wanted to pay for the rest they would replace it but it would be quite expensive because they would have to replace the vinyl flooring and it would be labor intensive. I unfortunately went along with the cheaper solution. Now, the front section of the floor has rotted out which tells me the problem was never solved. They said it was because I hadn't resealed the windows but since I was getting any leaks, one wonders how a bad seal from a window could cause major rot in the subfloor. Anyway, they take no responsibility. A Beautiful idea to remanufacture the bambi. Sold me the 75th quicksilver limited edition for over 50 grand and now 10 years later and less than twenty short trips, I have an unusable, unsaleable Airstream. Internationally known, top of the line product with bad manufacturing and no accountability!

Spread the word far and wide but unfortunetly here you are speaking to the faithful and Airstream apologist. Personally I can not figure out why Airstream is still using plywood and not a quality long life composite flooring like most manufactures are using these days. Good luck with getting the floor fixed properly.

I wouldn't consider buying a new Airstream as longer as they put wood down as the floor. Thor even owns another trailer company that makes all alum units with composite floors - Livin Lite. As long as they can sell all that they make, there is no impetus to make a change. When someone oohs and aahs about my trailer, I tell them it's fine as long as you keep up with the leaks. That makes their heads spin.
