Drove back down to Lake Arbuckle County Park & Campground... only about 15 miles. Got our old site # 15 back! First site next to the boat dock and pier... with a little view of the water. We spent lots of happy, warm, sunny, lazy days here. Never did manage to put the canoe in the water. Did some hiking of the trails in the Lake Wales Ridge State Forest. Went up to Winter Haven to see Donna's sister a couple more times. Enjoyed the community campfires and a potluck. Lots of friendly folks. A bit noisy on the weekends... some locals bring in their airboats. Very loud! Saw plenty of birds right off the pier and around the campground. Wild Turkeys, Pileated Woodpecker, Barred Owl, Bald Eagles, Osprey, Red-shouldered Hawks, Herons, Egrets, Ibis, Limpkins, Boat-tailed Grackles. One day at least six Red-shouldered Hawks were going crazy in the tree-tops right over our heads! They seemed to be pairing-up for the spring nesting. Cheapest wood and ice of the trip!
