Custom Made Awning

Always looking for some new kind of project, I set out to sew our new awning for the Safari. After 2 weeks, we're ready to test it out!. Trying to maneuver 12 ft. x 10' of screen fabric material through the arms of my circa '69 Touch & Sew, going through 3 sewing machine needles, 2 spools of heavy duty nylon upholstery thread and a bunch of pin pricks, I finally finished it. The grommets were put in by my hubby, and we ordered telescopic tent poles and stakes to set up. We're heading for the Coast and when we get there, we'll set it up with the poles. Will update soon.

Waiting to see photos of it fully set up and someone lounging in the shade it provides but from the pictures I've seen so far this is going to look great. Having a non-ZipDee style awning is more work but they sure are fun when they are up. My neighbors are just this weekend taking theirs to a friend who does boat upholstery to have an awning (and cushions) made.
