Well, five nights in the Bambi and we were ready for night in a hotel. Plus, we were celebrating a wedding anniversary. So, kinda last minute, we checked out Santa Fe hotels in our Lonely Planet Guide...Santa Fe, Taos & Albuquerque. Top of list we found within walking distance of historic district: Inn on the Alemeda. Made call and they had dog friendly room available. Booked it.
Parking was a bit of challenge, but managed (thanks to small size of Bambi) and then we checked into perfect room...private entrance, closed-in patio. Very nice, highly recommended.
After settling in, we visited two local places recommended by another book, called 1000 Places To Visit Before Your Die. We had a 4 pm appointment at nearby Ten Thousand Waves spa. MJ and I enjoyed hour in beautiful private spa. Then, at 7 pm, dinner on the patio at the Inn of the Anasazi. We have three criteria before recommending a restaurant...service (most important), food, and ambiance. This place had all three. Wonderful.
Next day, on way out of town, we stopped at the beautiful Randall Davey Audubon Center. Lunched in the Bambi. Then, strolled the short nature center trail before heading on to our next stop...Albuquerque.
