We loved the town, the area. And the Durango KOA. Friendly, scenic, nice laundry, close to town...but not too close, free pancakes by the creek.
After we set up, and before heading to old town for a night out, got some good advice from folks at KOA about best place to get new tire. We agreed on trying local Walmart Superstore.
I brought the flat tire with me in the Jeep. Gave them the size, and asked if they had Michelins...wanting to avoid the Goodyear Marathon. But, they did not. In fact, the only quality trailer tire they had in stock was the very same Goodyear Marathon, which was the original equipment tire that came with our Bambi. Price was $110...$121 all up, after taxes. Bought it.
Old town Durango was very charming...the railroad station, the many shops and restuarants...we even caught happy newlyweds walking down the sidewalk. Then, adult dinner out (without the pup) at a place called Seasons of Durango. Service was a little slow at first, but atmosphere, bar, food were all good...and eventually the service caught-up making for a very nice evening.
We regretted not planning a second night and taking the Durango Train to Silverton. Definedly will be returning to this KOA to explore more of the area.

Hey is that pup by any chance a Japanese Chin? He looks just like our little guy Yoshi that travels with us in our 04 19' Bambi Safari.

Well, we used to think he was a Chin, but we are more convinced now he is a Pekingese. But, he's a mix for sure. We rescued him from the pound back in 2006. He has been a bundle of happiness ever since. His very first weekend, we took him in the Airstream to Borrego Springs...and, then the following month to San Simeon. And again, every trip since! In fact, we had planned this year’s vacation to Key West, but chose instead a Southwestern Tour in the Airstream...so we could be with him. Can you believe that? Sometimes we wonder if one reason people get RVs is because they have dogs…?Posted 07-05-2009 at 12:45 AM by chbocca
