A perfect stay at this year's Riverside Telescope Makers Conference (RTMC) Astronomy Expo. Held at YMCA Camp Oakes, five miles southeast of Big Bear City, California on State Route 38 at Lake Williams Road.
Our campsite, right on the pond, near the stables...awesome. We enjoyed wonderful weather and new moon dark skies, great for observing nebula through our 8" Celestron and seeing the Milky Way. A welcomed change after last year's snow...yep, 4" over Memorial Day weekend, the traditional time for RTMC event.
A friendly bunch of folks, some of whom have very serious telescopes.
On the second day, we did a quick excursion down Route 38 and picniced on the beautiful Lake Jenks.
