This is not a leak

Posted 03-13-2012 at 08:54 AM by ldomela

Don't you hate when you procrastinate doing a project because it feels like it's going to be some huge ordeal, and then when you finally do said project, it takes 10 minutes and you feel really stupid for having waited so long? Yeah, we don't know what that feels like either.

Oh wait, we do. And we're going to admit it and blog about it.

It all started back in 2010 when we were having our solar installed. One of the installers at AM Solar came into the waiting room...

Making Art in the Airstream

Making Art on the Road - Riveted
I take so many photos while we're traveling. I run a professional studio back in Portland (mainly set up for the portraiture, bands, and publicity work I normally do), but when we're on the road I tend not to make much in the way of art. Many photos get forgotten and eventually end up archived on a disc at my studio or at home (unless they're for the blog!). Continue reading...

Winter Camping in the Shadow of Pike's Peak

Posted 02-26-2012 at 07:17 PM by bocotim

On a whim and with a nice weekend forecast, we packed the camper after work and headed out to Mueller State Park for our first real winter camping experience in an Airstream. It was about a two and a half hour drive to our destination, so we arrived under starry skies well after dark around 10 p.m.

The campground was completely empty. Apparently we were the only people in the entire Denver and Colorado Springs metro areas that thought camping in the middle of February at 9500...

111225 San Simeon State Beach

Posted 12-31-2011 at 09:58 AM by chbocca (Toaster Travels)

On Christmas Day, we packed up the Airstream and headed over picture-perfect CA-46 to San Simeon State Park, just north of Cambria. No reservations this time of year, but no problem getting site with view of Pacific Ocean in the upper Washburn Campground.

We walked the campground's San Simeon Creek Trail to ocean, enjoying great views of rolling hills, sunset, and wild mushrooms.

In the morning, we walked the pup on Moonstone Beach and enjoyed sandwiches from the French Corner Bakery...

111119 Thanksgiving and Malibu Creek State Park

Posted 12-31-2011 at 09:07 AM by chbocca (Toaster Travels)

One of nicer things about the 19-ft Bambi is ability to take almost anywhere. Over Thanksgiving, which we spent at our daughter's new place, we took the Airstream so that on way back, we could camp at the wonderful Malibu Creek State Park.

Hard to believe that a park this beautiful is located so close to downtown LA, but perhaps because of that, it was once used as location to film Planet of the Apes and M*A*S*H.

For dinner, we drove west on canyon to pickup fresh clams...
