Back window - new gasket and back in place

Posted 07-14-2009 at 03:41 PM by Dakota's Mom

Putting gaskets on windows continues. The back window presented some problems going back in, but with Andy from Inland RV's words of wisdom, and three people, we finally manhandled it into place. Thank goodness for friends and forums!

For those of you who might also have some difficulties with this - Here are Andy's instructions:

Takes 2 people.

One on each end of the window.

Raise the window over your heads and engage the "double J hinge"....

Gaskets continue and rear awning fixed

Posted 07-12-2009 at 12:12 PM by Dakota's Mom

DH has continued to put new gaskets on the windows and has learned some valuable lessons. The fast drying adhesive needs to be applied in about 6-12" segments, because it is really fast drying! You also need to be careful not to lose/misplace the bushings for the link arms that support the window. I think he's about halfway there.

Also received parts to repair the rear awning, thanks to Zip-Dee, and it works beautifully.

much lack of sleep envisioning what sort of changes we're going to make with this trailer. Our intention is to respect the legacy but instill some of our personality and make improvements. First thing is, remove wallpaper and turn double bed into single so that hall is more spacious.

We need to find out about replacing the screen privacy door to the middle bed/closet space since the existing one is yellowed and sticky. Might as well infuse this particular job with some

Floor and parts of the sub-floor are replaced, one beam under the black water tank was rusted badly and is being sistered up (with an aluminum angle beam) after cleaning the rust off and covering it to prevent any MORE rust. Some Plumbing remains to be done.

Stage 1, the exterior is over 50% done

Posted 07-10-2009 at 01:36 PM by Bowmans (This blog shows our renovation of a 1979 Sovereign 31' center bath AS)

The front endcap and curbside are now fully finished with the roof 2/3 done with polishing The awnings are cleaned and remounted on the 2 sides that are polished. All of the windows and hardware have been scotchbrighted and light covers are cleaned. The windows and hardware that needed resealing with Vulkem are done also. Looking at just the right angle, it looks totally complete . I had to add all of the extras in for the photo since Beth spent so much time cleaning the awning material....
