Moving further on the restoration...

Well, we finished polishing and re-sealing the roof Friday. I am happy that I don't have to go back up there except for whatever we decide to do with the antenna. When I was polishing that area, I took a look at why it may not have been raising from the handle inside. When I took the metal bracket off that hides the gears, I got my answer. A bunch of plastic pieces fell out. Some looked like gear pieces, others just plastic chunks. I nicely placed the broken antenna back on its' holder for another time...
We went out and ordered new fabric for the interior. We decided to go with a blue theme throughout the camper. The goucho, new separation doors (we will re-build from fabric like another post I saw on this site) and some additional material for picnic table cloth and dishtowels will be in a solid denim looking upholstry fabric that is a dark blue shade. For the curtains, we picked out a striped pattern of the same blue, a light creme (matches the walls when cleaned) and smaller stripes of lighter blue. It reminds me of the awning material in style but a little darker blue in color. We ordered about 38 yards combined and made sure we got extra of both for any other ideas that may pop up.
We haven't done anything with the goucho yet so are not sure of the foam is reusable or not. I am under the idea that it can be cleaned but the wife doesn't want anything to do with keeping it although neither of us have seen it uncovered yet.
We also are trying to nail down our plans for the wood looking pieces on the inside of the AS (basically all of the cabinetry and interior walls). We want to remove all of the pieces that have woodgrain stickers on them. Once we started looking, it was all of the wood pieces. We will be replacing them with pine paneling or pine boards, depending on what they were to start with. Then for the extrusion, we will remove the woodgrain stickers that are covering them and take a wire brush to get a brush aluminum look. They currently have a browned stain? on them. I tried to scotchbright on an inconspicuous spot and it comes back to aluminum. This leaves what to do with the roller doors all over the place...
