Design a camper around this-- part 3, the real beginning!

Posted 08-01-2009 at 07:40 PM by bookstax
On Wednesday, we received the call from Jackson Center we'd been waiting for, the work on our Argosy was completed and she was ready to be picked up. Of course, we had to settled up our a large labor/material bill first. Working long distance with Airstream was actually pretty easy. Chris Burch was responsive to questions and concerns. He was honest with the diagnosis of two issues that they uncovered during their inspection of the camper. We ended up getting all the plumbing upgraded. That with the new rock guard on front made our bill rather high. We'll be doing some work on our own, and spacing out other things-- like the exterior paint-- to keep it within our budget.
Our first project now that we have her in our possession-- cleaning! Then removal of the interior carpet. We have Armstrong vinyl plank flooring waiting to be installed. An interior designer friend is helping with interior color and fabric choices. Another budget decision today was to bite the bullet and replace the laminate counter top...

The argument as we pulled it home today was over what color we'll eventually paint the outside. My husband wants glittery gold (no kidding). I want something two tone, glittery is okay, but not gold... Suggestions would be appreciated!

Hi, there are many shades of glittery gold, I'm sure, so maybe a compromise. Two tone, glittery gold with metalic blue. Or gold and yellow? Go to an antique car show and look at all the two tone combinations to see what colors go good together.

If and when our clear coat fails we already planned to have our trailer painted, but have not had any thoughts on colors yet.

Painting the Argosy a hot color is terrific. If you really wanted to go with a golden tone, why not try a nice metallic brown.
But my favorite would be a metallic deep sapphire blue, gosh that would look so good, the blue would have alot of depth, with some polished aluminum propane tanks on the front and some chrome or aluminum wheels.
You could get the red trim that is still available to replace the rub rail trim.

    Just my thoughts.

We saw one that was a shimmery off white (like lincoln & ford did not too long ago) with burnt orange trim work- it looked really good!
