Big Bend to Del Rio. Yawner.

Weary blog readers, rejoice. Today’s entry is a shorty. Departed Big Bend and drove pretty much uneventfully to Del Rio, TX; about 270 miles. (We did stop for lunch by the side of the road and, just as I was about to use the ‘Spuds facilities, an old gentleman with a terrific Texas twang pulled up and started talking to Kathy about the ‘Spud. Wondered if he could show it to the missus back there in the car. I stepped out, he introduced himself as James who lives “just out here in the country” and they been thinking about getting themselves an Airstream and, dang if they didn’t drive by and see ours which looks like a new one, and hang a U-turn. We showed them thru it; the “tour” doesn’t take long. Cute couple, her hair still up in curlers. They moseyed along and we had our turkey sandwiches and did likewise.)
Del Rio is not much. One long strip of franchise eateries and hostelries. We opted for the La Quinta Inn out of deference to our desert home...and because it ranked best in Hotel.com. (Wouldn’t want to see what ranked last.) Had way too much to eat at the Sirloin Stockade buffet next door. Waddled back to the LQ Inn to find the 'SPud surrounded by bass boats & cars. We relaxed and enjoyed the sumptuous size of the room and bathroom. Why, we could actually walk past each other without bumping!
