Camp with a view

Posted 12-28-2008 at 10:27 PM by Rivette (Camp with a view)

There are some things in this world I just don't understand. Why bottled water from a city tap sells for big bucks just becuase it's labeled 'mountain', why tiny trailers often cost more than large ones and why people choose to camp in a fancy parking lot for 40 dollars a night when you can camp for free with a view.

All things being equal, I'd prefer free water from the tap and a great view. Leave the asphalt campgrounds for others; I want to camp with a view.

Sometimes people just surprise you. She looked ordinary; aging bottle-blonde, little white dog, big purse and a big honkin’ car.

Ordinary enough that is, until I saw her wheel into a tiny county park, towing a 61' Bambi, do a three point turn and back that Bambi into a blind opening between to very hard trees. No hesitation, no fuss, no adjustments. Perfect the first time.

Kathy I learned, was anything but ordinary. She invited me into her Bambi and talked a blue streak...

The High Road to Taos. The low road back. And some disappointments.

Posted 03-27-2010 at 09:12 AM by BillB44

After checking weather forecasts, maps, guides and books, we decided to spend one more night with the ‘Spud here in SF, and to take the truck on what everyone describes as a world-class drive-- the “High Road” from Santa Fe to Taos.

Got up early, did some more freelance assignments, had quick breakfast, paid for another night here then headed out at 10AM.
The road stumbles along at first, 35MPH thru small adobe neighborhoods, then it starts to open up and climb, as does the...

Pocket doors, overhead cabinet and couch...

Posted 04-05-2010 at 08:20 PM by Bowmans

To start, we worked on the overhead cabinet over the kitchen sink and stove. Here is an image of the cabinet as it is being built. The stove vent and control panel are also in this cabinet. We had to work on the vent control that opens the outdoor vent cover so it would open and the filter needed a mount so we made some grooved mounts and a turn catch to hold it up.
