Mysterious cutout in subfloor

Hey folks, I have a 1982 34 foot Limited that I bought a month ago. I am in the middle of refurbish. There is a rectangular cutout in the subfloor, just at the bottom of the closet base, but it comes out into the hall a little. There is no heat ductwork around this. I am ready to put new bamboo flooring in. Not sure if I can totally cover this or is it something that needs a relieve vent. The previous owners had already taken the carpet out, and they don't remember anything being there.
Any suggestion on what the cutout is, would be greatly appreciated.

i have a 69 overlander i have a cut out as well but its for the plumbing trap for the tub.

But these cut outs are across the hall from the bath, at the bottom edge of the closet.
One of the cut outs is rectangular and the other round.
I really don't see anything below the cut outs.
