My Winter Adventure-tips and tales

Posted 02-17-2011 at 07:34 PM by 70s guy

Snug as a bug. Of course it's not winter yet but it has gotten to freezing.
Next i'll tackle some electrical up grades. My first idea was to replace it all.
I'm a soundman and you can never have too much power. Unfortunately winter is to close for a major project. All I need is 3 seperate circuits so I have plenty of heat and enough leftover to run everything else.
Oh yea, how about a spare ?

So there you have it. I'm still in dri-dock and with the addition of traditional fiberglass insulation under the beds and couch ( also salvaged ) I've stuffed every hole. My first test proved good. With a 15 mph wind I could not find any drafts ! woo hoo

....so I ended up with every window having 1" insulation in every window AND light streeming in from tip to tale.
I also used the bubble block in the galley window and as my exposure is east to west I get sun from up till down
So far I have manageg to use no adheisive or hardware to to do any of this. Always a priority with me. Do no harm and keep the yatch as close to factory as possible.

now, rverbody is familiar with the thin many bubble type and it's larger cousin. At the store, when I need it we've got a type of wrap 4 x 4 square bubblles a full 1 " thick.

big luck. All along. The carpet and syrofome: found too. Right on time. Now
all the windows are done. I had exactly enough to do the fore and aft and the galley windows. Not only does good light stream in but you can see out Clearly as the large squares are totally transparent.
