Onward, Eastward Along The Mother Road.

We left Flagstaff and put on 55 miles before breakfast, wanting to do some Route 66 exploring. This “Mother Road of America” is pretty crumbly now, some buried under Interstate 40 some popping up here and there to run alongside it. Being in the Spud and pressed a little for time (we finally have an appointment to get the leaking water tank fixed in Amarillo, TX) we couldn’t hit all the little out of the way waysides, but we managed some highlights.

Cue the Eagles: ‘Standing...

Hi Yoooo Silver Spud, and Awaaaaay! (Soon.)

Posted 04-20-2013 at 05:23 PM by BillB44

Well, after a long rest in storage and baking in the La Quinta sun, the Silver Spud is about to roll again; this time for it’s biggest, longest, most ambitious trek yet. From the Southwest U.S. to the Southeast U.S., then diagonally back across to the Northwest U.S. Approximate departure date: April 27, 2013. Estimated time of arrival back in Idaho, God only knows. If you've nothing better to do, feel free to tag along, here or at The Silver Spud Rides Again | Follow our adventures in the Airstream as it follows us.....

Well, it was quite a whirlwind. Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Arches and Canyonland. Each unique, each mind-blowing.

My goal was to post the day-by-day entries here on Airstream Forum as well as my regular blog, but that was more ambitious than realistic. Unfortunately, I can't just copy and paste as the AF has its own restrictions and limitations on images.

Soooo, if you happen to want some info and pics and suggestions on a trip to any of these wonderful Nat Parks, check...

The Silver Spud rides again.

Fair warning to those who like to follow the travels and travails of the 'Spud. We spent a few days de-winterizing and cleaning it and provisioning it. And we rolled out the 19th of April to visit five National Parks in Utah--weather and gas prices permitting. The plan: Joshua Tree NP (in Calif) then Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Arches & Canyonlands.) Stand by for words and pics.

Into Oregon, just barely. Then Sisters.

Posted 05-02-2010 at 01:58 PM by BillB44

Enjoyed a laid back, no rush breakfast then unhooked hookups and headed north out of Sparks under blue skies and 65 degrees. Steered towards Susanville but it turned out entirely too soon to stop at so we continued on thru Alturas towards Lakeview, Oregon.

With the almost magical help of our iPhone and RV Park Reviews.com, we found a better destination as we motored. A cool sounding State Park in Southern Oregon on a sprawling lake called Goose Lake. We set the Nuvi accordingly....
