Ok, so not a real early start but on the highway by 9:45. We covered about 130 miles before making one of our favorite stops: Wal-Mart!
I know, my urbane blogee, Wal-Mart is so, uhm, well, Wal-Mart-ish.
But try lugging a big trailer around behind you, severely limiting where an when you can comfortably park, and needing an assortment of supplies from groceries to toiletries to camping goodies to cheap clothes to RV supplies to an iPhone charging doohickey, and I’ll bet your heart would...

Two Plantations and a meal.

We had a doozy of a T-storm last night, glad to be in a hotel still. A few simultaneous flash-and-blasts, meaning it was right on top of us.
So we got a little late start this AM, but set off for Belle Mead (Beautiful Meadow) Plantation in 84 degrees, 92% humidity at 10:30.

This was about ten miles outside of Nashville proper in an exclusive ‘hood now called Belle Mead too. Rolling hills, huge estates, stone walls leading up the grand daddy of them all, The Belle Mead Plantation,...

Music City, USA.

It’s kinda true what we’ve read; Nashville is Memphis without the grit. Newer, cleaner, slicker, this is a big city built, ironically, by country music. And we got a big double dose of it today plus a great helping of early Americana.

Had our free breakfast here at the very nice Drury Inn (is there any hotel that doesn’t offer them now?) that was actually very good. Even the coffee. Then set off to visit the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum located in the center of downtown...

In Today’s Episode of “Storm Chickens”….

…we find our not so intrepid adventurers zig-zagging north through Texas, Kathy clutching the iPad in hand, closely monitoring shifting storm maps and data updates on the NOAA website, Bill driving and eyeing the dark clouds overhead.
