Maiden Voyage

Posted 07-19-2009 at 07:09 PM by nd48463
I got the silver-streamer ready enough to go on its maiden voyage of the July 4th weekend. It was rather uneventful, and the new layout worked awesome! I installed maple laminate floors in the front along with an oak dinette that converts to a King size bed! New custom cushion foam, and upholstery. I learned how to sew and made the covers myself! I also sewed new curtains for the front and rear. I scored big on ebay and got 20 yards of premium upholstery fabric for $40! I also removed the...

Progress!

Posted 05-04-2009 at 08:48 PM by nd48463
Well all leaks have been addressed and fixed. Outside has been sealed up. It is started to resemble a functional RV! Today I put in the water heater and started re-installing the interior skins. I have also installed a new curbside wheel well. I will use the old one to path the roadside wheel well. The task at hand now is to figure out the electrical system and thoroughly document the changes. It has been pretty cobbled up by the PO, but I intend to clean it up. It is getting exciting to...

Starting to Put it back together!

Posted 04-19-2009 at 06:59 PM by nd48463
It has been a while since my last post, but a ton of progress has been made! The Michigan weather has finally broke allowing for progress. Unfortunately the Michigan Economy also making me a Mechanical Engineer without a JOB!! This has afforded me a lot of time to work on the trailer, although My big plans have changed and some upgrades will not be happening this year.

Anyways, I have begun installation of the floor and have three sections left. The middle three that will be the...

Floor removal begins!

Posted 02-15-2009 at 12:54 PM by nd48463
I have finished gutting and removed the rear most portion of floor to see what was there. Besides for the rusted steel flashing on the rear bumper storage it looked pretty good. The cross-member ans outrigger are in excellent shape! Had some difficulty with the wafer head screws holding down the floor so I cut around them to get the floor up. I will need to add some angle iron the the rear of the frame. It was rusted out a bit. I did discover that in two area the floor rotted out under the...

Interior removal process! LEAKS ABOUND!

Posted 02-14-2009 at 03:36 PM by nd48463
Well it has been a while but the weather has been nice enough to get some work done. I have finished gutting all of the furniture and have removed all lower interior panels so I can begin on floor replacement. Many leaks have been found along the way! It appears all of the vista views are leaking through the glass. The Front and Rear windows both are leaking from the installation seams (I think). The awning mount has a leak, and the fridge vent has a leak. There also appears to be many leaks...

Back on track!

Posted 02-08-2009 at 01:07 PM by nd48463
Well it has been a while since I have posted, but there has been some progress. It has been a cold winter here in Michigan not allowing for much work to be done. What originally started as floor repairs in the bathroom and rear bedroom has now lead to a complete floor replacement! I just kept going thinking that it will be easier to do it now while i have every thing out! I am now all the way up to the front Gaucho! That's all of the interior that is left to go! I am now contemplating a shell...

Kitchen Galley removal

Posted 11-09-2008 at 04:35 PM by nd48463
Well today was kind of rainy and cold here in Michigan so I decided to plug in the portable heater and do some work on the floor. I pulled out all the supports for the washer/dryer then proceeded to the kitchen galley. In looking at the wheel wells, I decided they needed some attention. While I was investigating, I found about 5 or 6 tubes worth of silicone filling a gap in the outer wheel well ( about 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 18"!). To investigate further, I removed the galley kitchen....

Center bath removal.

Posted 11-01-2008 at 07:27 PM by nd48463
Today began the center bath removal. Water heater, toilet, sink, shower, walls, floor, etc have all been removed. i took my time to try and save as much as I could, since I do not have firm plans yet for the restoration. I also removed the Washer/Dryer combo which should remove a couple hundred pounds of weight. It is up for sale if anyone is interested. I also removed some more of the belly pan and curved side panels. I found an other skin over repair from what appears to be an incident with...
