Not a fun job, but it must be done. Leon has started touching up the polish on "The Tube"

Even More Scatter Bug Repairs

Posted 07-22-2008 at 07:09 PM by myboyburt (myboyburt's Airstream Adventures)

Leon was doing some additional inspection work in Scatter Bug and found what he called a rats nest of wiring that will need to be addressed asap. Looks messy, but ok to me but then I'm not the Master Electrician that he is.

The other picture is of one of the newly installed stabilizers in the down position. I'm wicked happy with these.

Getting Ready for the Maritime Holiday Caravan!

Over the past year I've been collecting promotional information and have purchased a few travel guides for the areas we will be visiting (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and PEI). From what I've read PEI has some good cycling trails and one that really seems interesting to me is near the West Point Lighthouse. Per one of my travel guides this particular bike trail is a continuous cliff-edge ride along the ocean, going passed harbors and quaint villages. So I've decided this is one of the activities...

Scatter Bug Belly Pan Rivets and Stabilizer Install

Posted 07-14-2008 at 09:45 AM by myboyburt (myboyburt's Airstream Adventures)

The re-riveting of Scatter Bug's belly pan is about 1/3 done. We ran out of 3/16 rivets so we could not complete the job this past weekend. Leon is picking up an additional 100 rivets or so and will finish up on this repair some night this week. Pictures show Leon drilling starting holes for the rivets and a section of the repaired belly pan.

All four stabilizers have been installed. Scatter Bug is now rock solid when they are down. BS (before stabilizers) you couldn't drop a dime...

More purchases and repairs for Scatter Bug

Posted 07-13-2008 at 07:49 AM by myboyburt (myboyburt's Airstream Adventures)

It always seems to happen this way: Repair something and you find other issues that need to be addressed: Leon replaced one of the shocks on Scatter Bug (will be doing the second one today) and while he was at it took the time to inspect the under-belly. He discovered that most, if not all of the belly pan is loose, meaning it has separated from it's rivets. So today after the second shock is installed Leon and my father will re-rivet the belly pan and inspect the axle. I'm hoping we will not have...
