We sadly said goodbye to Big Bend National Park and headed west out to Study Butte/Terlingua. An old Ghost town, now resurrected as an out-of-the-way artsy. pseudo-hippy, outlaw community. Interesting place to say the least....

Jan 2nd we moved to our third campground in the park (I wanted to try them all).... about 42 miles down to Cottonwood, near Castolon. This is the least-used campground... (and my favorite).....

On the 30th we pulled out of Rio Grande Village and up to Chisos Basin. It was only about 30 miles, but elevation goes from 1850' to 5400'! The Chisos Mountains are like a mountain oasis...
