15K AC upgrade and proper AC drip cup install done

Posted 11-30-2018 at 06:04 PM by GMFL
Updated 11-30-2018 at 06:15 PM by GMFL

That past summer we had enough! Our factory 13.5K AC was just not up to the task of keeping our 23D cool in the hot Florida beach summers. We like to go to the beach at least 4 weeks in the summer and if we happened to get a site at our favorite beach park (Camp Gulf DESTIN) that was not shaded we were T-O-A-S-T.
Our 13.5K unit would keep the inside of our unit nice in. The morning and at night, but mid day it would struggle to keep the inside temp in the 80s.
Soooooooo we upgraded...

Remounting 23D medicine cabinet to prevent falling

Posted 11-30-2018 at 04:54 PM by GMFL
Updated 11-30-2018 at 07:12 PM by GMFL

A common problem either the medicine cabinets in Airstream trailers is they are mounted to the aluminum wall with small #8 screws. The vibration and bouncing of the trailer as it travels down the road can cause over time these screws to strip out or pull through the wall or backing. If the medicine cabinet falls off the wall while traveling it can cause damage to the flooring, counter top, lower cabinet, and mirror. A solution to this potentially catastrophic problem is to “harden up the way the...

New chrome rubrail and what we found behind it ?

Posted 11-29-2018 at 08:49 PM by GMFL

So we finally got around to replacing the chrome rubrail on our 23D as it was starting to look a little ratty for our taste. No big deal right? Just order new rail pull off the old and stick on the new.....
Well it was what we found behind the rubrail that stopped us short of a quick project and turned this little clean up job into a half day job. The screws that Airstream used from the factory were just cheap raw metal screws and they were rusting quite bad. Now our trailer is stored under...

Bumper Lid and Battery box Lid pads

Posted 11-27-2018 at 09:59 AM by GMFL

I got with Thomas at Aqua Marine Deck and had these great closed cell foam pads made for my rear bumper lid and battery box lid. They look great and provide protection from thing laying on top of the lids. These in the photos are a little dirty (just got home from 2100 mile trip and have not washed yet) and have been on our 23D for 2 years. They clean up great and still look new. I think this is a great solution for those lids that are prone to scratches. Call Thomas at (404) 354-6204 or check out...
