A visit to The Mother Ship (TMS) - a last minute decision to go

Some reflections on our visit to The Mother Ship. We drove about 4 hours from our week long stream side camp in Michagin to Jackson Center, Ohio. TMS is the only plant in the world that builds Airstreams.
They build them all here.
They build them mostly by hand.
There are pneumatic tools for riveting and some hydraulic sheet metal bending machines but most of the work is done by hand. They move the trailer by hand from station to station.
They build to order....

Found the spare tire. Totally flat, totally rotten. Carried in a metal cage up under the tongue. Held in with bolts that look like they hadn't been touched in quite a while. Wondering if there was supposed to be some sort of removable pin there instead of a threaded bolt.

Can't bring it home without a working spare. Wallet tugging at my pants pocket again. So soon?

Cracked open the wallet for the first of what will be a thousand times on this journey. Two brand new deep cycle marine batteries. Turns out those Group 34's were just thrown in there. Group 24 batteries will fit in the battery box. Now the tongue jack works with a switch. Much better

Now that she's out in the open people just randomly stop by to comment on the airstream. It's just wierd.

Glacier National Park

We are leaving today for our destination, Glacier National Park and all places in between. We plan on being gone for 6-8 weeks. Unit 5067, 2016 Flying Cloud, and 2015 F-250. Also taking the dog, Beretta.
