haven't been here in a while .
just a thought , do a lot of vintage work here and lately it seems a lot of folks are stripping skin from interior ? I don,t get it .
this manner of construction uses the air gap between the walls for insulation and works better that most of the sob"s , the wiring can be redone without pulling skin , the subfloor can be replaced without pulling the body ( there is a right and wrong way to do it )
the idea of pulling the interior and disposing...

well got time in on her today. was wrong rear xmember was not rusted , was looking at top of holding tank box. rear xmember was never installed 1rst xmem is 38" forward of bumper. fixed tht first welded in new 10 ga formed channel x member. have local steel fab shop that makes stuff like that for me very reasonable 25.00 for 8' 10 ga. c channel. also installed a center bar 1/8" 2 by 2 tube stock, this will allow me to split the rear flooring plywood and install under the walls with a lot...

got some time in on her today decided to get her towable! new pigtail with 7 way bargman plug. eliminated round pin connector at front wall, that was a brilliant idea lets add an extranious plug at front wall so we have even more problems with light and brake wiring:-) is gone now. sockets were rotted in tail lights so pulled them out ground off rivets holding sockets to buckets and riveted in new 1s i swiped off a pair of contemporary lights had hanging on wall, probably cost me more than going...

got her gutted this weekend, at least most of it. rain prevented the removal of furnace and water heater,has to be done partially from out side as am saving the exterior for reinstall with the new appls.
the rear floor is rotted away as expected ! also the last crossmember is rusted in 1/2 at center and will need replaced. was planning on pulling the belly anyway so no big deal. found cool stuff while at it, lic. plates from ohio 1965 and 66 says housecar on them, how cool is that. the original...

i have been rebuilding airstreams as long as i can remember started on a 66 bambi in 72 i think ,was wrecked.
am just getting started on a 64 overlander 26'. bad flooring , whats new. the back behind toilet is gone. will seal the heck out of the rear bump rail when i'm done as i do on everyone that i rebuild, thats not the thought today .
today i'm thinking about refers, no more absorption refers for me.. for the last few years i have been putting in mini refers (dorm refers) with inverters...
