Hi the community;
I am bruno from France ( brunoffrance...) and the happy owner of an Overlander 27' from '71.
The blog -story was made to tell the uncommon story about our Airstream from USA to France, step by step in 2002.
After that I've tried to tell stories with this new toy and other american toys came in my life.
After the caravan , it was the pick-up truck to tow it, then an Harley-davidson, then travels in USA, my wedding in USA....
I try to post interesting subjects on what it's passion for my wife and I, with lot of pictures and comments ... from me.
hope you ll read it with great pleasure.

This one was , for the first time, without problem... except a small leak at the bathroom dump. 8 monthes living inside with, each days, hot water and toilet running well ... that was a good test;Good lady !

No great distance to do for holidays as we stay at our " little paradise corner"...

Posted 06-22-2009 at 01:41 AM by brunoffrance (Airstream, Harley-davidson and the american dream in france)
After the new water heater, now mounted, I' ve decided , this year to do something for the bathroom... Sure, the old bath and the wash bassin have the genuine color awy and , even with a good cleaning and maintenance, they no more look great.
The idea for a low cost is: to paint them... but not with classi paint that 'ld gone away as the water arrive but the new resin paint that becam very strong whan dry and have the appearence of enameled porcelein.
the choice of color: simply...

New challenge, i know it's never easy to work on a vintage vehicle and the Airstream is ...
New water heater to install... yes you've understand, it's crazy !
Bought on Ebay at the best price on the market, I've made the choice to improve the system: instead of the old "only" gaz Atwood, I've taken the Gaz/electric/electronic... but no door so it was not a problem because I've always the old inox one and the look is better than the white one they sale with....
BUT what...

Posted 05-20-2009 at 12:16 PM by brunoffrance (Airstream, Harley-davidson and the american dream in france)
Hi the community;
The Airstream activity is beginning again, a bit late compared with the other years but we are just comen back from an Harley-Davidson event, in the south of France ( saint tropez ); so last week-end , it was time to get out of storage , our A/S ... water heater is waiting to be mounted ....
Always a great moment... few monthes that i haven't see it and always suspicious to find another damage, as it was in the past.... But all was right !
At the end of last...

This is the end...

Posted 09-13-2008 at 12:18 PM by brunoffrance (Airstream, Harley-davidson and the american dream in france)
Today is not the day i prefer; It's the day i let our Airstream in storage... yes the Airstream season is over and no more plans for this year !
This season is already finished and, Leïla & I haven't seen the time running. It 's always too short and we thing only one think, the next time we 'll live inside again... Not before next june but we have to be patient...

In storage , you can see I don't let the LPG bottles in place; it's forbidden and i don't want they are stolen...

Water heater dismountle

Posted 09-07-2008 at 04:01 AM by brunoffrance (Airstream, Harley-davidson and the american dream in france)
Always something to do in a vintage Airstream, and this year, a water leak appeared just behind the toilet and the wood floor began to became wet...
After checking the toilet faucet, tubes, I thought it was OK but no, the leak was on and water filling outside the Caravan by the curve....
The problem was situated on the water heater area... impossible to dismountle it during vacations so yesterday was the day....
what a work when all is "vintage", i mean rusted or riveted.......

New Awning

Posted 08-23-2008 at 08:49 AM by brunoffrance (Airstream, Harley-davidson and the american dream in france)
The old one dated certainly from 1971, I've decided, this year to replace it by a new one, from Sunbrella. No good prices from Zip dee, and others dealers giving me only a price on feet, I 've decided to find one dealer in France and i've found from Dickson Constant manufacture list, near my home.
It was a good decision because rplace the awning without a professional, on a vintage Zip dee system, was not so easy...
