    DIY Drapes - Part 8

    BlickCD-
Your curtains look GREAT! Would you ever consider making curtains for my Airstream? I have all the original curtains to use as a template. Many people on this forum had recommended Silver Threads but I can't get a response from them and professional companies are way out of my price range. I've already purchased fabric as well as blackout material that I'd like sewn on the back. I'm ready to roll if I can just find someone to sew!

    DIY Drapes - Part 2

This a absolutely an answer to my prayers! I bought our 71 Airstream from my Dad who inherated from my grandfather. I really want to make it nice and a place me and my family can make memories! I have been looking all over for ideas and how tos when it came to the curtains and this is it! Thank you soo much. I dont want to just get curtains made I wanted to put my own work into it! So when it is finished I can look back and have a sence of pride. Thank you for making that process a little easier! I will be checking on your blog for more information in the future!

New2Airs, I got the glides from Vintage Trailer Supply. You can find them online.

As for the pleater tape, that just adds extra thickness for a nice crisp pleats. It doesn't actually create the pleats, you have to sew those. I was a bit confused about how it worked too.

    DIY Drapes - Part 8

We are new to airstreams, just bought a 1969 Overlander in very good shape, but no curtains. I have been searching for info the past 2 weeks and your blog gave me all the info I have been needing. I have pics of slides that I'll need but can not find the exact ones. Were you able to find substitute slides?
Did you use drapery pleating tape or did you sew the pleats into material? I have a good bit of experience in sewing so I am not afraid of the project, just can not find all the supplies.Would appreciate any help, have searched all the vintage sites and gotten some good ideas but not everything I need. Many thanks for your help if you have time to share it with me. L

You are pretty lucky that you had some old curtains to use as a pattern. Starting from scratch as I was, it was intimidating, hence having put off the job for a number of years.

I have done this for our Motorhome. After paying several hundred for curtains for our trailer, making our own was the best option for us. It was easy to do. Take down the old ones, using a seam ripper, we took them apart and marked the parts and measured everything. Got the fabric and liner we wanted and using the old curtains, measured and cut the new material.
Then we sewed the new ones together. The results were better than expected. And the cost savings were not too bad also.

    Hi Blickcd
We are reading with interest your article on drapes. We are going to get rid of our v-blinds in our 2009 Flying Cloud. Is there a Part 1 to the series, and if possible could I have a copy of it, or is it just a preamble about the project and does not contain any technical information.

Looks like it's going well for you. I want to remake mine too (I hate the curved tambour that never opens all the way). Looks like a pretty tuff angle to figure & attach together on the frame. What kind of system did you use to attach them? Biskets?
