Big escape 2011 summary
Hi from Ga. . . thanks for sharing your trip, we enjoyed it. Back when I had a VW camper and MUCH longer hair, we went to Hunting Island from ATL a lot (Closest beach ?) Always liked that place. We usually don't do those areas during warm moths due to the bugs. Gettin old I guess. thanks again, CraigPosted 05-25-2011 at 07:52 AM by RamblinManGa -

Big escape 2011 day 2
Have more fun!
Glad ya'll are having a good time. Keep posting - I live vicariously by other streamer's good times
.
I gotta' tell ya', I might want some more campers around us in this park. That moss hung stuff is wonderful, but it can get kinda' spooky at night when the park is dark and largely empty! We were in a park one night where when you stepped out of the trailer you really and truly couldn't see your hand before your face. I was wishing for streetlights, passing cars, something! Gave me the willies.Posted 05-23-2011 at 07:53 PM by LawChick -
Big escape 2011 day 5
Hi, great trip and nice pictures. I think the Light House would be neat, but I don't know about going up that high. Thank You for taking us along.Posted 05-22-2011 at 09:38 PM by ROBERTSUNRUS -
Load it up!
Great trip for sure. We camped at Soouthside campg in Dillon. Lots of trout fisherman from everywhere that are willing to show you where to fish. But i am interested in how you mamage your generators. I understand that it is dangerous to leave them unattended at the campsite. I think your idea of puting them in the trunk is the answer but when you go to town for groceries what do you do? I would like to se an indepth discussion of this issue.

Day 11 of the 2010 trip
Flat and level is over-rated--the steep grades give you something to talk about when you get home
When I was a teenager, we went up the Beartooth Pass in our '74 Lincoln and a 26 ft sob and camped in Yellowstone. Being from BC, I loved the climb and switchbacks up the mountainside. My aunt and uncle from Saskatchewan followed in their truck and trailer. As flatlanders, they were white as ghosts when they got to the summit! As a kid, I thought that was totally strange.Posted 09-02-2010 at 09:52 PM by 4slice -

Day 12 of the 2010 trip
That is too bad the visitor's center is still closed. We were able to see it in 2002. Actually, as a child, I remember seeing it and there were people still working on the wall of fossils, uncovering them.Posted 08-31-2010 at 10:26 PM by casarodante -

Day 4 2010 all over
good pix vernon, i love driving that route.
folks don't realize just how INTENSE the high plains winds can be and how they affect mpg.
maybe that's why lincoln looks SO angry in that statue...
he's tired of standing there in the 30-40 mph breeze.
safe travels!
cheers

Load it up!
Don't forget the Snowy Range when you cut across SE Wyoming. After the heat and humidity you'll have driven through, you'll find the chill and vistas on this high range just off the highway a real refresher. 9000-10500 foot altitudes. It's a drive that will take you E to W, putting you out at the west end so that you can reconnect with I80. Happy trails...wish we were there too! ~GPosted 08-18-2010 at 09:13 AM by maxandgeorgia
