Reinforcing Tambour Doors

Just bought a sheet of maple tambour to redo my cabinets.
Applied solvent based contact cement to the paper backing, then wet laminated 5 oz. duck canvas.

Guess what? The adhesion was horrible. Canvas practically fell off.

Then wet laminated with yellow carpenters glue, and it worked fine.

If doing it over again, I would use a lighter weight canvas, and would try and find a water based fabric adhesive that would be more flexible.
Hopes this helps someone, sometime.
