1. Where does the water relief valve on the hot water heater drain the water to (I should say where is it supposed to drain to)? I see no openings in the body near the water heater other than the propane line.
2. My water heater has a black coating on it that looks like some type of protectant. Anyone know what this is?
3. And the really stupid question - the water relief valve on the water heater was stuck (because of the coating mentioned above) fully turned all the way to the left. Wouldn't this be the "open" position for the relief valve to drain water. And turned to the right to close the relief valve? Or do I have this backwards?
