There are many tips but they are simply that.
What happens is the rigidity of the door weakens over the years and the tambour will not slide in a straight line through the track. The small "slats" tend to try to fold and it cause the door to become wavy, rubbing on each side and binding in the track.
You can try to remove the door and trim the cloth from the rear of the door. Trim it from the edges that slide in the track. only problem with this practice is that the slats are made of pressed board. they will dampen or become soft and deteriorate.
Also, there is probably a lot of dust in the track from use. If you can get all of the dust out of the center of the scroll, that will help.
You will learn to teach everyone using the doors to be careful and maybe assist the door opening by using two hands. One near door handle and one in the rear of the door to help rigidity.
