I have the same trailer and fortunately have not had that problem but mine doesn't have a 1" gap. I'd either find another dealer or take it back to the factory for repair. Is it still under warranty? I'm not familiar with where you are in Texas, but there seem to be at least a couple dealers there - or go to Airstream of Arkansas. I'm sure they'll be able to take care of it.
