The pilot orfice is probably dirty. A brass wire brush usually cleans them up well after disassembly. DO NOT force an item into the orfice to clean. This will enlarge the hole forever changing the gas/air ratio. Cleaning the white ash off of the thermocouple is important also.
Another note...if the pilot has been dirty for a while, once you clean it, the flame pattern may change disrupting the thermocouple properties causing it to fail. Thermocouples are cheap, if it old or has been dirty for over 6 months go ahead and change it while you are in there.
