I'm with Andy on this one... if the pilot burned all night, then the thermocouple is good. You've probably got a spider web in the burner tube, or a dirty orifice; although frequently either of those problems will cause a yellow, really sooty flame. I have seen spider webs that completely occlude the burner tube on water heaters tho...

I'd suggest before you make that long journey that you clean the burner well and see what happens. If that doesn't do it, you may have a stuck gas valve... the thing that the thermocouple holds open.
