Sink Fixture Removal

I'm in the process of clearing out the bathroom fixtures in my '72 Sovereign so I can work on the floor. Everything seems pretty cut and dry except for one snag--removing the sink fixture.

The problem is I can't access the screw-on fitting for the copper pipes that attach to the faucet. I'm a rookie in this regard, dealing with copper pipes. Any insight in removing these would be greatly appreciated.
