Converter takes 120 and makes 12v, inverter changes 12v and delivers 120v. So I you might not be able to eliminate either with change of tv as the tv uses the inverter while you are not plug in to shorepower, and when plugged in by converting 120 to 12v for use by the inverter to convert back to 120v.
