My 67 Safari has the original table. The joint has a full length piano hinge. There is another joint about 4" from the wall with another hinge that lets the table fold up into the window, the leg folds down like you say. I can even close the curtains over the table and it disappears. This allows the twin beds to pull out from the wall with about a foot between them.
