In addition to these reasons, the demand in developing economies like China and India, the war in Iraq has added to the demand. Supposedly, the US government has also added a tax to diesel to help pay for the war...these and many other "reasons" have been given for the extra cost for high diesel cost.
If American consumers ever latch onto diesel autos in this country, look out for even higher priced diesel.
