The first thing that I always do is make sure the gas system works at all. I would light the range. If it works, Then go to the furnace and configure to light. Hold the "pilot" button for as long as you can stand with a lighter in hand. Try to light it periodically and when it finally does, hold it for another minute so it gets hot. I'm sure there will be a lot of other recommendations but I have found this ot work after my aluminum has been sitting for any period of time. It helps to do this where it is warm and dry before getting on the road.
