I would think that having to wrestle the rear mattresses daily would get old quick. I completely converted the rear to pretty much all bed as per the diagram below.



One thing I did change was the removal of the two 8" X 48" Bolsters toward the front of the bedroom. Note that the length measurement is incorrect on the diagram - one is about 28" long, the other is about 39" long.

The resulting "open space" makes repositioning on and rising from the bed much easier. King sized fitted and flat "Tee Shirt Material" sheets fit pretty well, and are not too difficult to make up.

As far as the storage space under the bed - there is so much storage space in our unit that (so far, at least) we have not missed it.

All of the original framing and hardware is either in place or in storage, so converting back to the original layout could be easily accomplished.
