Wood Magazine did some articles on Corian a few years ago. I tried to purchase some to do my own home bath. No one would sell it to me. However I was able to get some cutoffs, sink blanks etc.
It really machines nicely with a router, I think I used super glue to glue it together. Really is NO mystery, google around.
and as rd indicated you can use finer sandpaper to get the finish you desire. Go all the way up to 2000 grit for a very shinny surface.
