Hi ! there is infact a hold down for the battery mine was a metal plate that was screwed to the floor then a clamp that went around the battery. I removed mine and put a more up to date marine type battery box made of plastic. You can find them at sears,wallmart,ect. These boxes will contain the battery in case of a spill.
