We use the dinette all the time. It's a personal choice, each is different. I know folks that bought without one and then on the next run, made sure it was there. We play cards, games, eat, and use it as a bed (folded down).
It's a very useful piece IMHO, but I can totally understand and respect those that don't care for it.
