Bathroom fit for a king!

Not quite, but this guy was tired of shaving in a little plastic basin that I had to reach down into when finished to drain it. I'm not afraid at all of getting dirty, I guess this is just one of my pet peeves. (Not to mention the plastic sink was terribly discolored and was going to be replaced anyway).

Thanks to our local Lowe's hardware store, the almond (they call it "mushroom") colored oval basin (16" x 19") and the ever so economical Price Pfister faucet, I was able to upgrade my bathroom sink for about $100. Of course, that doesn't count the two blades I broke trying to cut out the new hole.

The biggest challenge here is cutting next to the two walls. The jigsaw just won't get close enough. Trusty old hacksaw blades with a neat little handle (or duct tape) will do the trick. Notice that the unit fits very nicely. Self rimming, so its very easy to clean, and the faucet integrates nicely.

The bottom side isn't too difficult either. I had to cut about 4 inches off the existing drain pipe (black ABS plastic). The hardware store also sells a PVC adapter to fit the bottom of the sink tube and the 1.5" ABS pipe. Works great!

Oh, and don't forget, I get a nice little pull handle to drain the sink!

Happy Monday,
Warren
