Axles from 1961 to 1966 were called Dura Torques, and those from 1967 and later were called Super Dura Torques. Super Dura Torques were advertised as providing "50% more shock absorbtion capacity resulting in a cloud-nine ride!"
I have a 67 Caravel that has vertical shocks and the original axle.
