How about posting in the real rally thread unless we are talking online rally. I'd like to think this thread has GLOBAL appeal. LOL Can you post the link?

Good idea Carol...
Laura thought I would help out a bit - hope you don't mind....
Also suggested that we grab some posts from the summer solstice thread that are relating to this year and get that thread you started Laura jump started again.....
That way as Carol suggested we can play pretend rally here and real rally over there at this link.....

Hi gals! Been awhile since I pulled up a chair around the campfire. Bit nippy still...but signs of spring are in the air!
A friend sent me this " Eagle Cam" link...pretty cool. It's a live stream of an eagle sitting on a nest with eggs that were laid last week on Catalina Island off the coast of SoCal. I guess it takes about 35 days for them to hatch...but it's pretty amazing to check in and watch them (momma #K-26 & poppa #K-10) taking care of the nest. Every once and awhile I caught a glimpse of a white egg in the nest. I leave it running on my computer at work and listen to all the nature sounds while working....Ahhhh, signs of spring - at least somewhere!!!
Here's some more info about it ~

Hey Shari, glad you came over to sit a spell. Yup the fire takes the chill right off.
I'll have to check out the Eagle cam in the morning when it gets light again. What a neat opportunity to watch the nest. Thanks for the cool link.
Ah, ladies shall we all dream about Catalina Island, take me away!!! Island breezes, whale watching, and water sports. YES that would do nicely right about this time of year.
Here's a few pictures of our birds and tiny wildlife. The Plover was doing her broken wing feigning to distract us from her nest. More than a few times we have had to cord off sections of the drive not to disturb the critters in spring.

Yeah...should have posted the link earlier in the day, it's much better when the sun is up...ya think?! Check it out ~
No, no cookies for me this year Steph...trying to lose weight (aren't we all!?) I'm taking a trip to Cabo in May. But here's some leftovers from V-Day awile back, virtual cookies for a virtual campfire! They're virtually fresh too...amazing how well they have kept after all these months!

Carol those are absolutely fabulous shots!!!
The Chipmunk and the buds on the "Dogwood" (shrub?) depicts Spring to a tee.
I Bet Kee Kee cannot wait for Spring by the looks of that mouse - the population will be just fine
If I were to assimilate with any picture it would be the one of the little Plover calling out "Shari Send me over some of the delectable cookies you make"... cause right about now in this season eating would be a good distraction from this long snowy winter
I am downloading "Episode" so that I can see the eagle cam - link not working on my new iMac - hopefully soon I might be able to see too....
I feel like a kid - move over - oh huh please, can't see, can't see, can't see

come watch!
Shari I am watching the eagles this morning. Last night I didn't think the cam loaded until I figured out they tuned their night light off for the evening. I am leaving it on as you had mentioned. One flew back and relieved the other and rolled the egg around slightly before getting in the nest, which looks pretty deep. Such nice audio too.
This is so cool! I am making some coffee girls to go with Shari's works of art. Those look like little presents too pretty to want to eat right away and so many.
I know we have lots of bird lovers here, what with parrots and pigeons, doves and call birds.
Thanks Sharon. Oh this will be our first spring with Kee Kee, good point, I guess my little critters will now be game. We do have a lot of hawks and those eggs in the picture never got hatched unfortunately though...
Coffee is ready, this live cam is wonderful. What a great post Shari thanks for sharing this. Great cookies. What's your recipe? Looks like we are in for a nice day. After last night's fie ladies, watching the eagles this morning isuper for our virtual campout!!!

Grab the binoculars! Who is the Mr. and who the Mrs? I saw the numbers on their sides when they were both standing. I think this is the Mrs. because she just settled in and rearranged the nesting and got all comfy.

Oh I am hopeless when it comes to downloads...and getting video to work.
When I click on the link Shari it downloads a file - would you know if that is the "source" file that "Episode" is requesting. If so I dragged it into the window as instructed and double clicked but it will not open...I am thinking I somehow need to get the proper source file for that feed???
I'm using an iMac OS X 10.5.2
Can anyone help?..It might be faster for me to just drive to the Channel Island

#10 is the Mr & #26 is the Mrs...looks to me like #10 has the day shift as he is who I've seen th most.
Sharon, see if this will help Channel Islands Live - Welcome There is a whole stinkin forum dedicated to the eagles and their nest...it documents their every move!
Carol, the website says the camera is solar powered...so I guess it's only on during daylight hours. The cookies are Sugar cookies, gingerbread and chocolate...the centers of the filled gingerbread ones are raspberry jam. All recipes coutesy of my "kitchen hero" Martha. They are yummy...and every one is unique ~ enjoy!

Just a guy poppin-in to see what you ladies were talking about. I could'nt have picked a better time. A big thank you to Shari and friend for the Eagle Cam link! I am also enjoying the sounds of nature in thier neighborhood. Carol those are some great pictures, thank you too. Makes me wish for spingtime here in North-central Ohio. Maybe after that foot of the white stuff that we are supposed to get in the next 24 hours, spring will not be to far off.

Shari, thanks! I'm hooked. The cam is running in the background on my computer with the bird song as background melody. How long til hatching? We'll surely want to be online for that. Great link! I've already passed it on to my kids and DH at his office. We have quite a few balds here in Missouri. It's a thrill to watch them soaring over the Missouri River, river hills, andflood plains. Your cookies look delish, but like you, I'm passing, at least for today Thanks again! ~G And Carol, your photos are grand too. I'm wondering how you got such good closeups. We have the plovers too, and I've seen the adult do the wounded wing maneuver so I knew the nest and nestlings must be near, but I've never seen them. How did you get the little mice? ~G

The "Eagle Cam Forum" says the first egg was laid Feb. 24th and the second on the 27th, there is normally 3-5 days between eggs and 35+/- days of incubation. I find the forum a little hard to follow...because they are a bunch of experts...I'm not. But the pair linked to in this thread are referred to as PH which I have realized stands for Pelican Harbor on Santa Cruz Island not Catalina Island, as I was told - it's another smaller island part of the Channel Islands.
