You're right, it does look like different wood. Hmm.
Another idea I had was to replace the doors with a resin panel, a la the CCD models. THis company,
3form, has a ton of cool designs. I don't know how difficult it would be to attach hardware, so my original idea was to leave 1-2 inches around the perimeter of the door with hardware attached (vinyl stripped, wood sanded down, stained or painted if need be) and insert these panels by screwing them down with hardware to the back of the doors.
I know there are no new ideas under the sun, but I wonder if anyone has tried this.
