Carol, yummy cookies and so fancy! Late March or early April, we'll head to Dauphin Island, one of the barrier islands just off Mobile Bay in the Gulf. It was really hard hit by Katrina and Rita, but we think the island campground will be okay now. It's on the east end of the island; the west end was almost cut off by wave action and many many beach homes reduced to stilts or completely gone. This is a major shrimping area, one of the places where wild shrimp are caught and sold in the US. We are hoping to find that the industry is still intact after the hurricane damage. I'm hoping we can go northwest or northeast this summer/fall. I've never been in the Maine-NovaScotia area nor have I seen Oregon-Washington-British Columbia. Then we just made reservations at John Pennekamp SP in the Keys for the first 2 weeks of January, '09. Yea! I'm hoping we can at least dip in to the Can Opener on our way down. This is all pretty audacious for us to plan, considering the age/health of my mom and of course the health of Steve, our son who lives with us. A girl just has to plan and hope for the best!~G
