This Rally is an excellent first rally venue. The atmosphere is great, and the park is among the nicest of the Illinois State Parks. I might add the following to what others have posted:

1. You will find a comfortable lawn chair for each member of your party to be invaluable.
2. Be prepared for semi-dry camping. Each of the sites have 30 amp electric, but water isn't generally available at each site nor are sewer connections. Empty waste tanks and full potable water tank is a near necessity.
   1. Two dump stations are available, one near the park entrance and another at the campground entrance.
   2. There is also a potable water fill station near the campground entrance as well.
3. For the evening campfires, you may want to be sure to pack a warm outfit as the evenings have been cool for some of the earlier rallies. A flashlight is also very handy as the grounds are well shaded so you are often walking in the shadows.
4. There is usually an open house (participation optional) to give participants to tour one another's coaches -- this is one of my favorite activites (The Long, Long Trailer plays on my Video player while a slide show of the 1999 Vintage Airstream Club International Rally and Wagon Wheels Caravan plays on my laptop).
5. We often bring pass-arounds (chips, etc.) for the afternoon social time.
6. Most of all, come prepared to have fun -- this rally has always been among my favorites in this region, and I feel sure that you will enjoy every minute.

My rig should be able to spot this year as my vintage tow vehicle is finally finished -- a shop in Bloomington was able to true and straighten my original steel wheels so the car can again safely tow either the Minuet or Overlander. The picture below is of the car with the Boyd Coddington wheels that were too wide to permit the car to safely tow the trailer:

Thinking about this year's rally makes me even more anxious for the ice from this week's ice storm to melt -- 4.5 unexpected snow days has made for a rather long week -- we were fortunate, however, in that our electricity was only out for 12 hours many of our neighbors have been without for four or more days and may not have electricity until early next week!
